I've been having some low and rough idle issues lately so I added a little of the meaner cleaner to about 1/3 tank of fuel and It seemed to run smoother after that. I have since filled up with B20 and added the meaner cleaner as well. Didn't really drive it very far after that so it's hard to tell just yet.
I've heard dumping 1 qt of trans fluid into a full tank will also lube and clean the pump and injectors.....Anyone try, recommend or discourage this?

Not a good recommendation. Do not add tranny fluid.

Strongly DISCOURAGE !!

The additives in the ATF will kill your injector pump in no time. Have you priced an injector pump?

Use a proper additive.

HID,

I have a customer with the same problem. Starts fine, has normal power, gets good mileage, but occasionally, especially when hot, it gets a really random miss. no sync, or rythym to it. It will miss 3-4 times in a seconds, then will idle smooth for another scond, then rough again.

I can't figure it out.

New filters, good fuel pressure, 8 month old injection pump, OE injectors w/110k.

Any idea's?

Thanks,
Merrick

Uh, yeah...it would be ok to use ATF if you dont mind buying a new IP to the tune of $1100

Doesn't sound like a good alternative to me.

Well after running 1/2 tank of B-20 with the Howes meaner power Kleener my truck is running extremely well! I had been getting a shudder anytime I stopped at a light. At first I thought my idle was set too low but after the additive and the bio it idles higher when in park and when in gear. Also I've been getting really bad fuel mileage but I pulled my 16' utiity trailer for 270 miles at an 80MPH speed average and only burned 1/2 tank. My mileage had been running around 14 mph lately but it looks like it will be much better on this tank. I'll post again when I fill up and do the math.
