Removing front calipers - 91 350 4wd

I've got the truck half out of the garage, front end up in the air and I'm trying to chang the front pads. I can't get the EDIT caliper retainer out. I've got the big Bendix brakes, and according to my manual, that retainer should just slide out. I don't see any other bolts that look like they are holding it in place. Any help will be much appreciated.

thanks

The retainer won't just slip out like the manual says, it takes a 4 lb hammer and a punch/blunt chisel . It will go either direction. It may be froze so soak it with wd-40 then try it..

If the bolts are clear, I'll bet the last person to work on it didn't use the proper grease on the retainer. You need to get a DBH (darn big hammer) and a steel drift and poke it out. When you reassemble it, make sure to put a little bit of caliper grease on the sliding pin. DON'T get it on the pads for obvious reasons. Also, watch your thumb when you're wailing away. Don't ask me how I know that.
