remote starter installation 96 12v.
HELP>>>> valet 561r
remote starter is in but not working... i have gone over the diagrams and directions a million times, cant get it to work. the module is clicking with the unlock lock button, but nothing with the starter function. I know for a fact that that part should be hooked up right... except there is a five wire harness with blue, orange, purple and green... i have no clue what they go to and i think they might have something to do with the problem... also what type of circut is the door locks, ive tried relay and everything but no luck!!!
i am lost... just confused right at the moment the truck is down untill i can figure this out so i hope that someone can help me out...
thanks in advance
john
by the way the tach learn worked...
everything in need of grounding is grounded... hood pin..etc..
called the dealer who has professionals but they dont wanna help not even for $$$ if i brought the truck in

I am not sure what installation manual you are using, but the blue, orange, purple and green are from mixed harnesses. Try this web address for a download of the installation manual, and it contains an 800 number for assistance. http://www.directed.com/guides/manua...561R_06-03.pdf

I have the same year truck you do and tried to get that done on my own. Maybe you are better with electronics than I am but I burnt a whole system trying to get it done and eventually had to go get it installed by a pro. They even had problems with it. It took them almost six hours to get it done and they do the job EVERYDAY. You can only walk around an electronics shop so many times before you start to get nuts. For the good of your truck and the good of your sanity, pay the money and have someone install it. If anything is wrong you can point the finger and have them fix it.
Same situation with mine. It was a gift for Christmas and nobody would install it so I tried to do it myself. I installed it and the remote start didnt work, the keyless entry didnt work, nothing worked. Then it smoked up and was toasted. I was lucky I didnt burn the whole truck to the ground. I ended up paying $200 to get the keyless entry/remote start installed professionaly. Like I said, even they had trouble with it. I had to take it back after the install because they programed the key fobs wrong and it shut the whole system down. More trouble than I was wanting to deal with and Im glad I got it done right finally. Good luck!
