rear main seal leaking on 12v

I am looking at a '94 3/4 4wd 12v 5-speed regular cab dodge, and the rear main seal is leaking a little. My fater-in-law thinks that there is something else wrong with it, which caused the seal to leak. Other than the leak, the truck runs GREAT. no blow-bye or anything, and it has 180k miles. The guy wants $6400 for it, its navy blue and has a flatbed. Think its a good deal?

The rear seal was weak on the '94. There was a TSB for the fix.

If your rear main is leaking, figure on replacing the clutch... The oil splashes on them, they get saturated and then slip.

The rear seal went out on my 89 at about 125000 miles. Had a local shop here put in another one, the correct way, and never had another problem. Make sure whomever puts in a new one puts it in dry like the book says. If you oil it, it will leak. The guy didn't believe this so I copied the pages from the book and took them to him.
