rear brake line blow out

OK, just went to leave the house, stepped on the brakes and got nuthing except a verylarge puddle of fluid in the driveway.
Question is....Can i block off the line to the rear and use only the front brakes, since it was going to get the lines replaced this week anyhow. I am hopeing i can just get a small piece of linefrom napa and pinch it off and install it up front and just have juice to the front brakes.
thanks guys

I went through this very same thing about 3 months back. Your best bet is to just get it over with and drop the tank and replace all the line from the break and back. That line rusts really bad behind the tank because of all the water that is trapped there.
you could crimp the line and drive, but that is really dangerous despite the amount of braking force that comes from the front.
Youll want a bunch of line and a couple unions and female fittings in case you lose or break any. Pick up a double flaring tool and make a few test flares on scraps before you do the line. Get a mini tubing cutter and cut off as much rusty line as you can and replace with new stuff.
Youll also want to get new wheel cylinders. Its pretty much a guarantee the old ones will snap off the bleed screws. Get the chevy one-ton's.

Ok, thanks.
I already have an appointment for later this week, because I saw the line was kinda oozing back behind the tank to the junctionblock which is between the rear set of brakes. My question is can i just get a foot of line or so and crimp it off and just use the fronts to get me to the mechanics house?

If you are asking if its Ok to operate a vehicle on the public roadways with your brakes intentionally by-passed,I dotn beleive you will receive much encouragement from anyone on here...
not a great idea IMHO....

The qestion was whether or not the front brakes will work, with the rears pinched off so the fluid won't puke out onto the ground. I'm considered a responsible adult, and will determine if it is gonna be safe to take the back roads across town to get it fixed. If I think it will not be safe the vehicle willstay exactly where it is, untill I can figure out another coures of action.

To answer your question yes I will work, I had to do that on my jeep just to get it home when I tore a rear brake line off.

PS. If you have a choice it would be much safer to have it towed.
