This is a stupid question but I've got a noise coming from the right side of the engine and I'm about to go on a long road trip. It's a Ram 2500 Diesel. It's coming from a pump near the low pressure AC port. Sounds like something is caught in it.

What is this pump? and is it something that's going to leave me stranded.

Please help.

 

Suggest you describe your vehicle a bit more explicitly(year, HO or SO, etc.) and you will be more likely to get an answer.

 

Is that the water pump? Not expensive and about 30 minutes to change.
