power steering and power brakes quit working

??? Well i took the truck up in the mountains last night (no major 4 wheelin), did a little shootin, got in started it up, no power steering or power brakes. Not much fun to drive now. Any suggestions?

my first thought since you lost both at the same time would be your pump went out i think u can take the pressure line off and by cranking it only you should be able to see if you have pressure you didnt by any chance look to see if there was fluid where you were parked last night did you you could have leaked it all out and not known it but if that is the case then your pump is probably shot by now anyways

checked the fluids and all seemed normal. checked fuses and any other abnormalties but could find nothing. im baffled.

Garz<br><br>Welcome to the site.<br><br>Your 89 truck has vacuum boosted brakes and pump driven power steering, if it is the same as my 92 was. The vacuum pump is mounted behind the power steering pump and is driven through the power steering pump by the same belt pulley.<br><br>That means that your problem has to be from that pulley back through the power steering pump to the vacuum pump. If the pulley is turning when the engine is running then you have something broken in the power steering pump and therefore the vacuum pump is not turning either. <br><br>Hope this helps<br><br>Dan
