Exclamation PLEASE HELP!!!...reading motor hrs

I have a 2003 dodge 3500 4x4 dually. I have 106,000 miles on the odometer. I went to sale it and the buyer took it and had the computer flashed??? Said it showed 344,000 miles on it. I checked the hours with the reset trip button and it showed 2735 hrs. If the cluster has been changed does the hrs go with the cluster or is it reading the motor? I bought the truck with 94,000 miles on it and we use these type trucks alot and there is no way that it has this many miles.

If he had it flashed, then he bought it.

Depends on if you really want to sell it to him.

Likely he is trying to beat you down, but 2735 hours is consistant with your miles shown, at 344K you would have had to average over 125 MPH the whole lifetime of the truck.

Tell him he has an idiot mechanic, trucks mileage is correct.

134000/2735=49 miles per hour Actually sounds like the truck has alot of highway miles usually the average speed is somewhere in the high 30's

I think the guy us pullinig your chain. I would show him the calculation I just did, and asking to prove to you that it has more miles

The hours go with the cluster,if you change the cluster it shows the mileage and hours of the donor cluster.I have changed my cluster in my truck.

Thanks for all the info.

Thank you all for your input on this matter. I think we all agree there is something fishy going on here. I will let you all know what the truth is when they check my computer in front of me. Thanks doorguy for helping me understand the hrs. on the cluster.

Mileage, hours, and engine info is all stored in the ECM anyway.
