Pinion nut size and question.
Ok, I'm trying to figure the size of the pinion nut and have read like 4 different sizes.
I have a 2500 manual, open rear, D80 what size is the nut, I know I will have to machine it down some. Also with the yoke from an 2001 d80 dually fit in place of my stock on.
I need to know today as I need to buy parts asap.

Pretty sure it's 1 7/8" on our trucks.
Machine what? I didn't have to machine anything when I replaced my yoke. I couldn't break my loose with a 3/4 drive breaker bar with a cheater pipe. I wound up restraining the yoke with a 4 foot pipe wrench and using a 1" impact gun to get the nut off. Then you'll need a puller to get the yoke off the pinion. When I installed it I torqued the nut to 475 ft lbs.
