Re:piers pump prob!!!

It was running right after I put it on. Then when I got on it hard and shifted, the gear slipped on the pump and retarded the timing :-[. Piers had the pump set up at 15 degrees so all I had to do is pull the gear put the keeper in the pump and find tdc again. I cleaned the taper and gear with brakeclean and blew it out with air a few more times reinstalled the gear, piers had a nice little trick, use a large socket or piece of pipe that fits around the nut and tap on the gear a few times because the gear sometimes gets cocked on the taper and doesnt seat correctly. I torqued the nut to 170 ft pounds and took her out again and she runs great I had 255 at the ground. The new pump should be around 300. The truck pulls hard all the way to 3100 rpm's and my stock clutch is just barely holding on My old pump had a plunger sticking in the barrel, not fun when you are 2000 miles from home towing 17,000. In all I am very happy with the new pump and Piers was very helpfull like always. DJ
