P7100; bad fuel leak at barrel
P7100; bad fuel leak at barrel
Guys,
My truck sprung a nasty leak at the top of the pump right at the top nut on the barrel assembly. The nut was a little loose and it looked as if it spit out a pile of teflon tape or some kind of sealant. What the heck happened and what is it gonna take to fix it?
Leading up to this the truck seemed to be running a little rough at lower RPM and then all of a sudden got hard to start and the massive fuel leak surfaced.
I am stranded....help.....

I am technically not stranded, but my wife will soon grow tired of driving me around and stealing her suburban....
Tried to get another replacement truck running yesterday, but had a brake problem....not my weekend.
Noone know on this????
Best I can tell from diagrams there is a sealing washer between the barrel body and top nut. Someone said the nut position is used to adjust timing, but I am thinking that is an A pump or some other P variation.
I know a ton of you have changed DV's, so what is in there to seal it up? I read about an oring in there and I am wondering if that is the sealing material that it pushed out. Obviously and oring is just a dirt seal and something else seals it up.
Any help is appreciated. I dont want to have to go to the local cummins shop as there are some numbnut mechanics there and they will rip you a new one on price, but I dont know what else to do.
