p1693 doa on side of road - no other codes

Truck died while pulling a horse today. P 1693 on the dash. Got the horse home and then went back with my reader. Only 234 overboost condition and no other codes. Lift pump maybe or would I see a code for that? Kind of had a feeling that something was happening because on cold start today, engine hiccuped and almost died. Then it ran fine.

your going to have to use a code reader on it, the key don't work all the time for some resune. and some times the code reader won't work. I'm sure you have fuel in the tank? and do you have fuel pressure at the IP? If so. I'd say that you will find a 1688 in there for a code.

Yup, read the codes with my ODB2. Only code was p0234 overboost.

I've never heard of that code shutting the truck down. Did you clear it? You said yep to the fuel pressure?

Cleared the code. Didn't have time to do anything else because the local PD wanted it out of there (can't blame them since I was on the side of a heavily traveled highway in rush hour). Sooo, had it towed to the local Dodge dealer. Maybe I'll hear tomorrow. The only thing that bothers me is that I parked on an uphill last night and when I started it up this morning, and was waiting for oil pressure to build, the engine really hiccuped and shook the truck. Has me wondering what's in my tank too. Definitely going to put in a fp guage now. Any suggestions along that route?

Quite often there are codes don't show up with the average off-the-shelf code reader and have to be read with the Dodge DRB Scantool.

The one at Autozone has been pretty good. It gives a generic code at least even though it means something specific to the manufacturer. I've been a regular at AZ for the past couple of years with the Audi
