P1689 (M) No Communication Between ECM and Injection Pump Module.
Data link circuit failure between ECM and fuel injection pump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops.

Has your truck had any of those symptoms lately?

thats what i got when my vp went out and the wire going from the vp to the ecm was brunt and had to be piggy backed cause to fix it right would have been another $800.
so make sure you check that wire.
good luck.

P1689 is called a companion code - it tells you that another code is stored but you generally need a code reader/scanner to extract the missing code.\

Do yourself a favor and get a fuel pressure guage to monitor your lift pump.

Oil pressure = sounds like the pressure sender. Its on the drivers side of the engine.

Ok thats just what i will do thanks for the info ...the funny part about the oil preasure gauge is that it worked fine before i had all the issues what the truck and it only seemed like it stoped working when i put the new computers in it

That is interesting....

"usually" when the oil pressure guage quits working - its the pressure sender.

i think 1693 is the companion code . 1689 is the no communication between ecm and injection pump module code....at any rate it's not good, i just had 1688,1689 1693 and no start. replaced Inj. pump and all is good
