This thread is perfect timing. I had my check-engine light come on this Saturday. Got down to Auto Zone today and I have the P0088 code (and the P0148 - I assume a result of the P0088).
When it hit me on Saturday, I had a dramatic loss of higher-end power. I was in 3rd gear (automatic) on a back-road and just starting up a steep hill. An easy press on the gas and I actually got less power rather than more. Experiments to try to see what I had - mash down the gas to the floor and where I usually get neck-snapping go, I got next to nothing more - in fact I probably got less. About anything over 2000 rpm and I had to really massage the pedal to find the sweet spot with max power before it started to back off. Unfortunately, I had to force the issue because I was taking a group of kids to a horse show, so I hooked up and drove about a half-hour (each way) on Sunday. The rig had real trouble keeping us at highway speed with the gooseneck on the back. Today, it seems to be feeling better. Mash down on it and I'm pretty much back to normal.
If I let it run for a while, will the code time out and clear the idiot light? Or should this be serviced?
EDIT - not actually running bio-diesel right now. No time to get down to that station at this point. Running Shell - cheapest around.
