Yep, you'll need to put a gear puller on there & pop the gear off the shaft.

thanks for the tip. it worked great! the pump is out and i noticed a key way on the shaft of the pump, but nothing on the gear. How am i going to line up the pump so it's in proper timing? The engine is at tdc and timing pin is in. Does the new pump come with it already at tdc? What your view on this?

yes, there is a slot for a keyway, but it doesn't have one. On the side of the pump is a place where you remove the plug to access the timing pin. Your replacement pump should be pinned at the correct timing, you just install the new pump, lightly tighten the gear onto the shaft, then remove the pump pin before torqueing the nut to 160 ft. lbs
