Overboost shut off?
Overboost or Speed sensor shut off????
Hey all,
Joined the forum yesterday after buying my 2006 2500 CC LWB 4x4 5.9. 30K miles.
Great site and seems to be a lot of knowlege here. I am coming froma Chevy gasser back to the world of diesel. I have owned 4 PSDs and hotrodded/modded all of them but the Dodge is a new animal to me.
Anyway on to my problem.
First I should say the truck is home now but I am not a happy camper but no roadside emergency here. Just want to know what the I/ dealer should be looking for.
the conditions and symptoms are: Completely Stock truck less the new tires.
Tonight I went and had a set of 305/70/17's put on my truck. On the way home I was playing with the truck just see how much power the truck lost going up that much on the tires. I left a light pretty hard and then ended up hard on the skinny pedal when all of a sudden the truck acted as if it shut off. Once the RPMS cam back down it ran fine but had a Check engine lit up. I tried to see if it would clear by restarting the truck but no luck. I continued home and everything seemed fine until i pushed it again. Each time it would do the same thing. It acted like an overboost, but do these shut down on those conditions or just defuel like the Ferds?
this truck is new to me (less than 24 hours) and i fully intend to mod it but for now I do no even have a programmer to read the codes.
Any insight to what is occuring?

Welcome to the site,
You should be able to check for any codes by turning the ignition switch Off,,,Run,,,,Off,,,Run,,,Off,,,,Run and watch the odometer window. If you have the owner's manual, it should describe the procedure as I'm not quite positive.
Then you can look up the codes by clicking the Tech Facts button which will take you to the FAQ sections.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.
I took it to the dealer today and te tech said there was problem with one of 2 sensors. One sensor being the throttle pedal and the other???
He said te fly by wire system shuts down when it exceeds the peraimeters.
Not sure if he is on the right track or not but he ordered the throttle assembly. should be in tomorrow in the Am.
Onr good thing about the trip is he reflashed the PCM for te latest updates and adjusted for my tire size. I was also able to look up the history and found the truck has never been in for warranty work.
