Oil pressure drops when I floor the truck to like 20psi. I know these sending units suck but this doesnt seem like the problem. Truck drives fine around town but when I get on it, the pressure will drop but not to 0. If its not the sending unit then here are my guesses, clogged pickup, bad rod bearings or maybe something to do with pushing two turbos. I don't know if these are feasable but not to sure where to start on this one. Oh yeah I've got 174k on the clock.

Most likely the sending unit but I've also seen cheap Oil Filters that collapsed internally do the same thing.

 

Any idea on how much a new sending unit is? If they are fairly pricey I might as well buy an aftermarket gauge.

 

If it's like the 24 valve the sending unit is pricey. Might be time for a gauge.

 

Check your local Cummins parts distributor.
It'll probably be 1/2 the price of the exact same part from a Dodge Dealer.

 

Hopefully its not the same price as a 24v one
