I've changed a few filters by sticking a screw driver through it.

It felt good.
It cured my frustration.

best thing is to put oil on gasket next time youl be able to get it off easy

Strap wrench all the way....unless you want to **** off the wife and get oil all over the driveway when you put the javalin through it (screwdriver for us rednecks)
