oil filter?! urgent

where the hell is it? right in between the turbo and the motor? dumb question, but just want to make sure I've got the right one. All the other trucks I've had before have had the oil filter pretty close to the oil pan.

instead of using a typical large oil filter wrech that works well on most vehicles, buy just the piece that goes on around the oil filter. I have one that i can put down in there, slide around the oil filter, then it has a spot on it that i stick a 3/8ths extension in and connect it to my wratchet, it is a breeze to loosen and take off and then to tighten and on the new one

Come up from the bottom and spin it off with you hand. When installing the new filter, dab your finger in clean oil and coat the gasket, spin the filter on with your hand as tight as you can and leave it at that. I have yet to loose a filter at hand tight and in my profession I' ve change a few .

Ok, thanks guys! I'm not going to be able to hand loosen it off, so I'll try the strap that CTD2001 and dr. evil suggested.
Cheers

Should be tighten 3/4 of a turn from when the gasket touches the mount.

I got luck once in awhile to twist one off by hand but rare...

About using a screwdriver...

If you go that route make sure to put the first hole in the bottom and drain it first.... Less mess that way...

Being a heavy equipment mechanic, I have changed countless filters, very few "hard to reach places" do I need to use a wrench. On my pick up, I tighten it as tight as I can get it by hand and never had a problem, spin's off with hand. You can get a good grip on it from under niegh the truck.

I like that "KUNG FU ALASKAN DEATH GRIP" , First time I've heard that one.

I pretty much do the same thing by tightening by hand, i also wipe the oil from the filter and my hands so i can get a good gorrila grip on it. I usually cant get it off by hand though. Thats were my strap wrench comes into play.
