What kind of oil are you running? Does it smell like diesel is the level rising after some driving time? What is the viscosity like?

Usually if fuel in oil the level will raise quite quickly and you will see a rapid loss of fuel in the tank gauge. As it raises oil/fuel mix will come out of the overflow tube covering the truck underside and rear witht he mixture. If not that havee your dealer check your codes for other problems if still under warranty, if not then inquire about the specific codes and what they are and what causes them to determine if you ahve a problem or not.

I forget what the mechanic put in for oil. I will go out and smell it to see if it smells like diesel. The level is only about 1/4 inch higher than normal right now. So it seems to be a slow influx of I am guessing Diesel. It doesn't look like water at all.

Does any one know what an FCA means? I read one post and it said when you have a 0088 code it is mostly likely a stuck open FCA?

FCA Fuel Control Actuator i believe....and it is on your injection pump with two wire clip hook to it.....you can see it if you open the hood and from the driver side look at the power steering pump...then look at your CP3 pump[....the wire you see on the backside is hooked to the FCA...it is replacable from cummins....not from the dealer....the dealer will sell you the injection pump at a cost of 2000.00 so go to cummins

so the wire goes bad or the FCA goes bad?

Do you think that could cause my codes to go off like they have?

is this an easy fix?

Incorrect.....FCA has been available for years as a separate piece at the dealer.

Could the diesel fuel at the bottom of the dipstick could also be caused by a faulty FCA?

My bet is injector they dont have to leak fast. Their are lots of variables that determine how the injector can leak were the crack is, if pressure is being ran, fuel, etc.

should I replace the FCA first and then worry about the injector? Or should I take it someplace and have them fix the injector first?

Could a faulty FCA cause an injector to go bad? all of this happened at the same time.

I am wondering if possibly this all could happen because of a loose battery cable creating an electrical spike. One of my battery caps blew off.....But I think the battery is good....

This forum is awesome for all the combined knowledge of everyone.

Put a drb scanner on it first it takes 5 minutes to do man test each injector with it makes things simple in your process of elimination man save the hassle of doing things old school and buying and replacing parts that may not need to be replaced or wasting your time doing so.

i just dealt with this on my truck, and the dealer will not sell you just a fca...they will only sell you the inject. pump with the fca....if you go to cummins you can buy just the fca.
I will give you all the names and numbers you want to prove this.

gofastman im not saying you are wrong but maybe it was just that dealer b/c i have price checked 2 different dealers and they will sale them seperate from cp3 neither keep them in stock and have to be ordered but can be bought seperate from diamler chrystler and also through cummins.

will the Drb scanner tell me if the fca is bad? Is that something that only a dealer has? Once I have it scanned is it better to take it to another mechanic rather than have a dealer do it? They charge so much money her locally.
