no start, empty filter
no start, empty filter
Last night the truck cut in and out a few times, then quit. I pulled out the filter, the canister was more or less empty. Can anyone point my in the right direction? SHould I hear the pump in the tank running?

if the fuel dosnt start to pour into where the filter goes shut the key off and then turn back to the run position and check again
if nothing happens u prob got a dead pump

GO figure, I had it towed home, 100 miles last night. This morning, I left the key turned ahead, with a new filter in place, the clicking sound stopped after awhile.(the sound of the air being released, I think). It then started no problem. It idled for an hour, I drove ti around town, no problem. Then, it quit again. I made it home, but not sure what to do now. It is acting like it is out of fuel. no service light is on or anything. I will try tomorrow, to remove the filter, and watch for fuel to fill the bowl.
I would appreciate any other comments

But yeah, you should learn much after you find out if the fuel bowl fills up or not.

Don't fry your CP3
I don't think the other posters explained the seriousness of what is happening to your truck, probably cause you have so many posts to your name, they thought you were aware of the dangers.
Everything you posted so far, seems to be pointing to your Lift Pump. That is a few hundred bucks if you catch it early enough. If you keep running the engine with a bad LP, the CP3 is sure to go out. That is somewhere between 1500-2000 bucks on top of the several hundred to still replace your LP.
I see you have some mods and don't know if you would be covered under warrantee. You should be if there were no mods and you were still under 100k miles.
My advice is to look into replacing the LP, either at the dealer if under warrantee, or look into aftermarket kits like the Walbro or .... ummmm.... ahhhh, someone will chime in on the other leader. But don't run it till you know you have a good pump.
Once you replace the LP, you will find out if you have already cooked your CP3. Invest in a fuel guage as it is more important than your Boost guage.
Good Luck,
The dealer replaced the lift pump on my 97, only for me to find a hole in the suction line leading tp the tank, after the new pump made no difference. I plan to check the fuel lines carefully. I am surprised that it is intermitant. if it was the lift pump, you would think it would stay not running. I wonder if there is something inside the fuel tank that may be plugging up the inlet.
If the casing is empty, either no fuel is leaving the tank, or nothing is drawing it out. Is there a pump in the fuel tank?
