Drove truck mid week ran fine, tried to start yesterday just turned over. Plugged in heater and put battery on slow charge. drove car. this morning tried to start same thing heater and charger on all night if I put fuel pressure gage post filter side and bump starter goes up to 10 psi but as soon as pump turns off gauge drops like rock tied to it. 188,000 miles other tan loosse ground that made dodge want to put new tps on for, no thanks and one plugged fuel filter about a year and a half ago trouble free truck. any ideas code reader shows nothing

if your truck doesn't normally sit that long then there must be a leak somewhere and air is in the system. its warm and batteries are up so to get it fired up loosen a couple fuel lines at the head and crank away. You should get alot of fuel if all is ok. A helper turning the key so you can tighten up lines when it fires.

sounds like maybe the check-ball on the lift pump went south for the winter ?? for fuel pressure to drop that fast ,i would rule out air induced from a hole in the line.....but the connector at the tank could be loose ??

quote from the dieselstore.com go to injection pumps find kit for nweer 98.5 read about codes =Defective VP44 Engine Codes
Tampering with the the retrieval of codes does not constitute an engine diagnosis. However, there are some codes that usually indicate a defective injection pump. A current P1688 always means that the pump is bad, there is no further diagnosis required. Code P0216 is probably the most common code for VP44 Pumps. If transfer pump pressure has been checked and is O.K., the injection pump is defective. Other codes that are less common are P0180, P0181, P0215, P0251, P0252, P0253, P0254, P0370, P1287, P1689 and P1690. These codes USUALLY, but not always indicate a defective pump. There are wiring and power checks to be performed if these codes are present. These codes relate to Dodge pickups only, and are not for any other ISB application
