No Headlights
No Headlights
Hello,
I started my truck this evening to head home. I turned the headlight switch to the on position, but the headlights would not come on. The parking lights, dash lights, fog lights and rear light in the bed all work. I tried the headlight switch many times with no success. Could this be a fuse problem? If so, could you please direct me to the fuse that needs replacing? Looks like I will have to leave the truck here until tomorrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Truck is a 2001 CTD 4x4 QC 6-speed

Working on British cars we would always comment:

Fixes?
So, any suggestions for a fix for this problem? Do I need to purchase a new multi-function switch and swap it out or is there a cheaper alternative?
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Sometimes the light switch wire under the column cover comes unplugged.
When mine went up i could tilt the column up and the lights would come on and tilt down off.
Remove the cover on the steering column and look on the left side of all the wires and the purple/white stripe might be loose, i tightened the connector and put some RTV on it to hold it on.
hope this helps.

Due to the open construction of the switch it's prone to to getting gunked up. One cleaning can keep it working for several years. In fact a brand new switch will probably gunk up as fast as a cleaned one.
