Sounds like it is a multi-function switch problem. That is the one that is your dimmer switch and turn signal switch. I have not had a problem with mine yet, but I understand it isn't too bad of a job to replace. Do a search for "multi-function switch" and you should have some good reading.

MnTom is right on the money. You can either replace it.....or do what the rest of the cheap-o guys do and flick it back and forth hard several times. This usually cleans up the contacts a bit and will prolong the agony of spending money.

I had the exact same problem and replacing the Multi Function switch took care of it.

Mine has done this little trick about twice. Luckily the first mod I ever did to the truck was removing the driving/fog lights relay and replacing it with a jumper so that the driving/fog lights will come on with just the parking lights,,,,, on low beam,,,,,,, and on high beam. When the headlights went off when switching from high to low beam,,,,,, at least I wasn't totally in the dark. Since the first episode, I've started exercising the switch whenever possible and it has reoccured only once more. I imagine that it will eventually need to be replaced,,,, but I'll wait till it gets worse.

Sorry i havent got back to you guys. Working late hours" I also replaced the switch (dealer only item) $66 everything seems to be working great now but the fog lights on is a good idea. I took the switch apart the contacks were burned pretty bad . It looked like they should have put dielectric greese on them . Thanks for the post everyone I realy appreciate it .

Thanks Gcookiman
