No Fifth gear

Well it was working great then it started to make funny noises in first and second.. but still shifted great then it started making the noises in third and fourth but still shifted fine with fifth still working.. then i came to a stop and wot thro every gear shifted perfect till fifth and ground for a second and just wasnt there. Do you think all the earlier noises were from the fifth gear coming loose and falling off?? and is it ok to drive with out fifth it shifts fine? Thanks for any help Marc

yea but you need to get it fixed asap because it could catch on the other gears and cause problems

Take your time. 5th gear has nothing to catch on, it's all by itself in the tail housing. I drove mine from North Dakota to Texas when 5th gear fell off. I know of a guy who has been driving his with 4 gears for over a year. When you get around to it fix it right with a fully splined shaft.
