Need some help... truck died
Need some help... truck died
Pulled back into the parking lot at work after lunch and my truck started running really erratic and then just died (after throwing some codes).
PCU:
P 0500 - No VSS Signal detected
P 1693 - Companion codes stored
ECU:
1693 - Again
0230 - Lift pump out of range (no big deal, that ones been there for a year since I have the stock lift pump unplug... I have a mechanical lift pump)
1689 - No communication between ECM and injection pump module
Need some help/advise here. Is it a sensor issue or something more serious?
Thanks.

Funny you should mention that. I was thinking the same thing so I just got back in from the parking lot. I unhooked the EZ from the data link connector, but I did leave the other two leads hooked up to the MAP sensor (for the boost fooler portion of the EZ). Drove the truck around the parking lot and seemed to be fine but couldn't really put any load on it. So I parked it (in a tow truck friendly position) and then held the brake and gave it some gas. The truck pulled hard against the brake, built about 20psi of boost, but never faultered skipped or missed a beat.
Going to try to drive it home and stop by an auto parts store to have the codes cleared. Keeping my fingers crossed.
No, not the original VP. I had to replace it once with about 106k on the clock. I now have about 145k on the clock. Had the VP replaced at a Cummins dealer while I was on vacation a couple years ago.
