I had a short in some wires. Some of the wires in the dash harness that have to do with the brakes burned up. I can fix the wires but the plugs got too hot also. Does anyone know were i can get the plugs or maybe just a damaged harness with out buying a complete harness.

 

The harness from a gas rig is identical, just go to a Pick-A-Part junk yard and you should find what you need pretty economically.

 

Did you meltdown with the trailer in tow?

 

No i didn't. the guy that had the truck before me wired his brake box to the harness plug by twisting the wires together and putting tape around them. He also had a 40 amp fuse in place of the 20 amp fuse for the break lights. Well to say the least i was going down the road and the truck filled up with smoke. Guess what the tape came off the wire and the fuse wouldn't blow. So now i have to repair one heck of a mess and am also redoing anything that had been wired that was not factory.

 

Hit your local boneyard and find a suitable '99 Diesel donor - if none, try a '99 gasser, as suggested above.
