Need help connecting the dots

I am having problems with my 02 2500 24v. Having off and on problems with bad throttle response, or i can be cruising down the highway, push the accelerator and have nothing. Comes out of it temporarily if i shut off the key and restart while moving still. Checked codes, came up with PCU codes 0500 and 1693, ECU codes 0216 and 1693. Not sure what if anything is related to the rest. Not sure if DDRP is quitting me, or (gulp!) injection pump is bad. Wanting to get fixed ASAP.

PS: Fuel pressure light not working, going to order mechanical pressure gauge in the morning. Any advice and guidance is greatly appreciated!

VP44 death codes, best bet.

You might get lucky and still be under warranty, you would have to fight for it though.

Ok thank you, will try the APPS reset tonight. If that does not cure it, what is the for sure way to condemn VP44?

Here's a great read on how to diagnose an IP failure.

Thanks for the help everyone. Tried the APPS reset this evening, and took for a 30 mile test drive and it ran like a dream! Thanks again, I am much obliged.

PS. I have a Autometer fuel pressure gauge coming so that i can get a better idea of what the LP is doing.

if your VP isn't dead, you're prolly goin to have to replace your lift pump. Mine did the same, but caught it in time to save the VP. Hopefully it's your LP, way cheaper to replace than the VP. But make sure you check your LP pressure, if it's low, you might want to look into gettin a FASS or AIRDOG, much better than getting an intake LP from the dealer. My $.02

The best way to do it is to erase the codes, and monitor fuel pressure at the VP44 while driving. If the P0216 comes back and you've had positive fuel pressure the whole time, it'll be the VP44. With the dead pedal you've been experiencing, it's a fairly sure thing anyway.
