Need help for codes P0513 and P0071.

I have an 06 3/4 ton 4x4 and check engine light came on this morning. I retrieved codes P0513 and P0071. I had the 0071 before and it cleared itself. I tried to use my Actron scanner but allI got was a link error, and Ihaven't used it since 2003. Can i get updates for my scanner? Please help.

Here's what's in the service manual, maybe somebody who knows will chime in.

P0513-INVALID SKIM KEY . . . .
P0513-INVALID SKREEM KEY . . . . .
P0513-SKIM INVALID KEY ERROR

P0071-INLET AIR TEMP SENSOR RATIONALITY . . .

There is a flash for the P0071 code. Has to do with the block heater and air temp sensor being too far apart in readings in cold weather. As for the 513, try a different key, and see if it goes away. Truck run?

yeah the truck runs with no problems, and the codes cleared the next day. I think the 513 code was induced by me,but the 71 code has popped up a few times but has cleared itself. I dont think the 71 code is too big of a deal ,but if it pops up again I'll go to the dealership and let them buy me an inlet air temp sensor.

Hey Shane - I used to live in Royse City!

Do you know LocoBreath (sp?) over there?

Shane- no need for a new sensor. They reprogram the computer for a "rationality conflict". When the truck is cold the air temp sensor reads actuall air temp, and the computer "thinks" it should see the same for the coolant temp. DUH! With the block heater plugged in the readings are too far apart, hence the code. They will flash update your ECM and problem gone. How did you induce the 513 code? Playing with a non chip key?
