Someone please help! I have an 01 Dodge(as listed in my sig), the ecm is thought of to be bad in it and I need to try to find one somewhere other than from Cummins. They shot me a $1080 pricetag on theirs and I was hoping to find one somwhere a little cheaper! Does anyone out there know where I might find a used ECM or a new one for cheaper than this?!?! Thanks in advance for any comments or advice!

 

What are the syntoms, I am suspecting mine also, gives me a hard time starting when hot. I was told the heat maybe affecting the ECM. I looked on Ebay last night and they range up to 450.00, but than there might be a chance that they are no good also.

 

I've got my stock one that I just pulled off my truck, but it's an automatic. I don't think they can be switched.

Hate to break this to you but on the hard hot starts, at least on my '99 it was time for a new VP44... That was back in '02, I would hate to see what they are costing these days... Not a hard DIY swap though

 

Calm down and relax. Are you sure it's the ECM ?

The " is thought of.. " is not a fact, it's a thought, many times when "they've told me that.." it's not quite the fact

Before you go out and swap ECM have it tested and be sure that's what it is.
Even if it cost to have it diagnosed, get a true evaluation, otherwise you are just throwing $$ at nothing.

P0500 and P0234 ,,,speed sensor and turbo boost, thats it.

 

Yes. The only code that is not related to programmers, I do not remember the actual number, but it was "TPS Sensor Voltage High". Therefore I originally replaced the TPS on my own and found to still have the same problem I then took it to a friend who works for a professional mechanic, the two of them determined through several tests that the ECM was bad on this truck. What do you think?

P.S.
If anyone happens to have a used ECM to sale, it has to be between 00 and 02 and be a 5 or 6 speed. Please let me know if you do have one you want to sale, I would be very interested!
