After doing so - check your alignment as well. In my case as stated above it took two trips to the dealer when the kept it for two days. I hope this works for you as well. I was at my wit's end as well. After the U-Joint replacement I took it for an alignment check and it was out as well. Not too bad but it did require an adjustment. I can provide the numbers if you want. I have a good feeling this is what your are experiencing. I know it drove me nuts!

Hope this helps!

Taxidermyman, just wondering if you have had any luck yet with your truck?

Jack up the front wheels, crank the steering to one side, then try to spin each front wheel. If a u-joint is starting to seize, you will feel resistance to turning while the steering is cranked.

Apart from that, it may help to raise all four wheels on jack stands, then run the truck in 4wd and listen to the wheel bearings with a stethoscope. If the noise is as bad as you mention though, a bad wheel bearing will probably have play that you can feel by shaking the wheel.

FYI all you guys , the easiest and most accurate way to check your wheel bearings, if they are not totally shot and flopping all over the place , is to jack up whichever wheel you think it is , hold the coil spring with one hand , and spin the tire with the other , if you can "feel" the bearing as it turns , it's bad.
