Munched power screw cover

I messed up my power screw cover trying to get it off. Is it necessary?

The tin cover over the screw is not needed, nor is the collar when removed. just make sure the lock nut is sufficently tight.

I'm putting a 3200GSK in it. The warranty is dead!

It increases the fueling across the RPM range. I don't know if your 2nd gen pump has it, but the VE pump does for sure.

You don't have one. '89 - '93 only.

I have a friend with a 93 1st gen , and he is looking for some more power.

where is this screw , and how many turns would it be good to start off with?

I have turned up tractors before using the fuel screw , but not a truck yet.

First, there is a lock nut on the screw that needs to be loosened. It can be a bugger to get to. Once that is done, remove the screw. You will see a limiting collar crimped to the screw. This is a present from the EPA. Carefully grind the collar until it starts to spin on the screw. Remove it. Be extra careful not to ding the threads on the screw. Use the jam nut to chase the threads, then screw it all the way in (carefully). Bear in mind that the injectors may become a limiting factor and turning the screw in may only have negligible effect.

You don't have to turn it all the way in, you can go in 1/4 turn increments if you like. I just usually go for it and crank it in.
I'll try to send you a picture later today that has the screw location.
