My son who is currently stationed at Rapid City,South Dakota says he thinks his cat. conterter is stopped up. Delima need a shop to either remove cat and replace with pipe or if he remove cat they will just install pipes. He is there for thirty-five days then he has to report to Abliene, TX. If anyone knows of a shop please e-mail me at pancowboy@yahoo.com OK has not vechile inspection anymore. Truck is still titled in OK. Thank-you for your help. Zane
This converter is welded on boyh ends.

Due to the laws I don't think you will find a shop in that area that will "remove" a cat convertor. Too much liability involved. Now if he were to cut and gut the cat himself, and then take the shell to a muffler shop and request it be welded back in place, they may not have a problem with that.
Not sure, the list I have doesn't list one for 98.5 and up.
I would think that they might be the same.
Most aftermarket companies list their exhaust parts for
94-02 trucks.
Therefore this leads me to believe that individual components may be the same.
I am not positive on this one, so you may want to check around.

Are you sure it is a catalytic converter? I have a 2000 and just had my exhaust replaced, and it had a resonator that looks like a small muffler ahead of the big muffler. This was Dodges attempt to try and get a gasser quiet ride.
Here is a little reading on the cummins, it talks about the resonator in the 5th paragraph.

Hope this helps.

Found and done. thanks for the e-mails. You people are life savers. Son had tried no one would help. With this forums help dear ole dad came to the rescue again. Son couldn't believe it and was very thankful again. Since it is a touchy subject I just want to say thank-you very much again to the one who emailed me.
Get a die grinder and a piece of straight pipe. Just cut it all out and replace with the straight pipe. Did mine yesterday in about an hour and a half. I cant bring myself to roll up the dang windows now!
would like to do it but i spend 10 hour days on the interstate with mine and don't want to be "overcome" with exhaust sound for hours on end.
maybe no converter and a not to restrictive kinda quiet muffler?
