Where did you cut the line? Try a pair of locking pliers on a rubber section of the line.

when I did mine I opened up the fuel cap on the truck then cut the line fast and blew compressed and back into the tank, taking the prime away from the fuel pick up tube. if you don't have and air compressor you could use a long section of hose and bow in one end. make sure the one end that you blow in is always higher then the fuel cap. I would sugest using an air compressor. hope it help.

Could try sticking a bolt tightly into the end of the hose..Should work if there isn't massive amount of pressure.

You might have to start over. Split open a 1 inch piece of 1/4" rubber fuel line and wrap it around your steel fuel line at the cut and secure it with a small hose clamp.
After you get the leak stopped, run out the fuel to 1/4 tank then raise the front of the truck and using jackstands to support the truck, restart your project.

you have to undo the return line at the tank to keep from getting the siphon effect. Once the return is undone you will just get a little fuel from the lines.

The line to the lift pump is full of fuel, and it will keep siphoning as long as there is fuel left in it. However, the line runs via tank top, so if you blow the fuel out of it, it will not leak anymore. I did exactly that myself, but I anticipated the leak and blew into the tube by mouth before I cut it.
Finish cutting quickly, slip on a piece of fuel hose and get the end above the tank fill neck. Blow into the hose until you hear bubbling in the tank. After this, there will not be draining from the cut line once you remove the hose.
It will be a good idea to suck on the new lift pump's output line, using a hose again, to prime the LP.
