looks to be sooner than later

Hi and thanks for advise/suggestions:

97, 2500, cummins w/ 90,000 miles. Mechanic that has worked on truck since it was off warranty says he can "maybe get a little more time" out of the stock transmission. Of course this happens 1) when we need the truck the most 2) when we need to be pulling a 4-horse trailer nearly non-stop and most expectedly 3) when we can least afford it

My question: What transmission and TC do we want to put in this truck? We only use it for 16-year old daughters transportation and pulling the horse trailer. SOOOO, I want sound/sane/safe but no frills necessary .... improved mpg would be nice

In my younger day and would have like to hear about mods, add ons, tweaks and gadgets but now I am old, busy and just want to turn the key and go

Thanks for all your help! Susan

Call up Dave at Goerends. He'll set you up with whatever you need, nothing you don't, has THE best warranty, has some of the best prices, is a great guy, and will make your truck drive like a dream.

That's a good idea. You'll probably end up with a trans that's close to stock, with an upgraded converter, and possibly a slightly tweaked valve body.
