Lockup problem.

okay here is my problem the TC is not fully locking @ light throttle but if I take my foot out it & then hit it a little harder it locks up fine, but it feels like it's holding the truck back sometimes almost like it's being forced to drive & other times it's not it's pretty wierd, what I was wondering was if this is a VB/Line Pressure problem or the TC or maybe both, the truck shifts great & all it's just the lockup process.

DRecu!

Re:Lockup problem.

My dad was having a problem in his 98.5 with TC lockup and after he did an APPS reset it cured his problem. Your symtoms are different but you might try the reset procedure as it won't cost you anything...

Re:Lockup problem.

I changed the fluid less than a month ago so it's not that good idea about the lockup solinoid, anyone know the jump method?

DRecu!

Re:Lockup problem.

Just a word of caution- I have been told by more than a few tranny shops that flushing a tranny IS NOT a good idea. It seems to stir up a lot of junk and it plugs things up and creates more problems than it solves. I would suggest that you call Bill K. and discuss the problem with him.
Tom

Re:Lockup problem.

dan, you can try putting in a forced lock-up switch and see if that changes anything- will only take a couple minutes if you want to "rough" it in. the apps reset is a good idea too.

MnTom, i dunno about flushing. that certainly is true if you have been slipping the lockup clutch or other internals as pieces will flow through the transmission and give the clutches holding power. get rid of the pieces, get rid of the holding power. but if the transmission didn't havea lot of junk, i would think that it's ok ???

Tom
