Lift pump Issue

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel. The Truck at some point was convert to the Intank lift pump. It is starting to Fail. I have new External old Style pump. Will the External pump pull thru the one on the Tank or am I going to need to drop the tank and Remove it?

Will the Carter pump Support my Truck's fuel needs?

KN airfilter.

Thanks,
Fred

I'm leaving for a long trip next week So i need to make sure the truck is going to be dependable.

i think the carter will not draw fuel through the in tank pump, a sure way to find out is to hook it up temporary......as far as being able to supply enough fuel, my setup does great.
all i have is a campaign pump mounted on the frame with a twin mounted next to it for a backup.
I've had mine on for years.
the only problem I've had, is getting on it pulling my fifth wheel trailer, my low fuel pressure light will flicker on & off.
as soon as i back off the throttle the light stops flickering. but i have no performance issues
