Lift Kit Let me Down!
Lift Kit Let me Down!
Ok, here;s the deal: My buddy calls me a few weeks ago, says "Hey man, wanna help me put a lift kit on my Jeep?" Sure I tell him. We get started, total PITA, told him to take it somewhere and get it done (didn't have a big enough spring compressor). So he calls me up last night whining about his jeep, its jumping all over the road, shaking, quaking, snapping, pounding, etc. This is an el-cheapo lift he bought so I figured it must've totally screwed up the entire suspension. By the way, this is a 99 Jeep Cherokee, he used new coils up front, add-a-leaf out back, and new shocks all the way around. Throughout the interogation, he changes his story to "Its more like a bad vibration". So I ask if he installed a xfer lowering kit. "NO"
Moron
My guess is his problems lie in the u-joints, and he should install the lowering kit and replace the u joints. What'ya'll think?
Re:Lift Kit Let me Down!
Sounds like a good possibility. One way he might be able to determine it for sure is to pull one drive shaft at a time and drive it, see if the vibration changes or goes away.
If you can find someone who will let you run it on a lift this may help also.

Re:Lift Kit Let me Down!
Sounds to me like it is a drive line problem. I'm thinking too much of an angle at the u-joints. There should have been some wedges to change the angle of the axles. Hopefully it won't be too bad to fix.
Tom
