it's a Ford question. 7.3 diesel needs to be primed

I have a cummins. sitting on the ground, waiting to be put in a new (old) truck. a 1991.

however, I also have a Ford. 1992. and it's been sitting for a week cause it needs to be primed. has dual fuel tanks. it has fuel in both tanks. I suspect it has an airlock. but I have no idea how to go about priming it to get it started.

anyone able to assist or direct me to a webpage with info?

You will need to hold open the schrader valve on the side of the fuel filter base while cranking it over. This will bleed the air out at that point. Keep bleeding until you get a good stream of fuel without any foam. A tire valve core tool is very handy for this. You want the type that threads over the shrader valve to let the air out. Hope this helps!!! jmack9288

Even easier , stuff an air hose into the filler neck , and plug around it with a rag , put some air pressure to it , regulated to around 5 psi. then start opening bleed screws in order from the tank to the IP, and purge all the air.
