Exclamation ISBe flywheel housing

are the HPCR flywheel housings, the same on the HPCR as the VP44 ISB 24v?

reason I'm asking is 1st thing tommorrow AM, I have to go do a rear main and change the flywheel housing on a HPCR 2005 engine. but I've only got upto a ISB 24v manual for specs.

the FWH is broken. if anyone is wondering why.

The adapter plate is different, starting with the Common rail engines there is a groove in the back of the housing that holds on o-ring that seals the camshaft at the rear of the engine, I've seen a couple of those o-rings develop leaks that look just like a rear main leak so before you change the that you might take a hard look at that o-ring. If memory serves it mounts just like the old adapter plates you just have to be sure that the o-ring doesn't slip out of place or you'll have a massive oil leak.

So I did the job this morning. and the engine is a rear gear train ISBe 5.9.....what the hack. I never knew there was a rear train B engines out there. shocked the heck out of me when I was inspecting it. Its nothing like you describe being a rear gear train engine.

Only rear gear train B model Cummins I am aware of ( And I don't know if Cummins calls it a B ) is the little 3.3 4 Cyl, made by Komatsu for Cummins. Perhaps there is a smaller 6 Cyl. version?

Pictures would be helpful.

Just out of curiosity what is this thing in? I've never seen anything like this, it almost looks like it is installed backwards.

QsbE engine

Rear geartrain equipment engine.

I have worked on bigger Q series stuff before, and all of them had their little quirks.
