Intermittant Starter Fix

Had a battery go bad so replaced both. Truck still hesitated to turn over and I thought that I had burned the starter contacts. I pulled the starter and contacts were showing wear, but not bad. Finally the old lightbulb went on in my head and I remembered the underhood relays. Sure enough, close inspection showed slight corrosion on the contact pins. Cleaned and reinstalled. Problem gone. Hope this may help someone else.

Re:Intermittant Starter Fix

Good deal on the fixer,I mightadd that I bought the truck I have now used a few months ago,and am preparing it to go on a 10k trip thru Canada and Alaska next summer,I have been going thru it with as some say a fine tooth comb,The guy I bought it from had just installed a new starter,as part of what I am doing, when changing the fuel lines above starter I orderd fuel lines, and a starter repair kit from www.fostertruck.com I bought the starter kit to carry with me, when I got it I was amazed at the size of the starter contacts,so I went in to the starter as I already had it out,and the starter was I guess to be around 5 months old and the starter contacts was not bad but they were burnt so as a precaution I changed them, the starter contacts he sells is well worth the money.Goodluck and hope this helps some one too! Rick
