intake heater wont shut off when key on
now this is a strange one ,the truck was parked for a month vp 44 failure ,everything else worked good,ie lift pump intake heater ,replaced vp 44 ,went to bump key and lp would not run ,and intake heater stayed on ,and got really hot ,jumped lp and it runs fine ,just wont turn on ,only codes in system p 1692 ,i am puzzled ?,i am thinking ecm pooched but it all worked fine before vp44 replacement, have replaced vp44s in past but never had this issue ,any1 with an idea or schematic diagram for lp and intake heater for a 98.5 24 v
how long are the cycle times for the intake heaters ??

you know what the farmer said when his horse died?
Darn! he never done that before.........

(please excuse the joke, i couldn't resist)
the code indicates a problem with the ECM, can you clear the code and go from there?

Your grid heater solenoids have died on you. They are mounted on the drivers side fenderwell, just below the battery. I don't have the p/n, but I just went through exactly the same thing. Mine got so hot that they melted the insulation on the cables going to the heaters. Just got a 10mm socket and removed the cables at the heaters. Wouldn't start without ether cold, but otherwise started good. Comes with both relays as an assembly on a board, just swap wires. Takes about 20 minutes to change. Good Luck
