Exclamation Hydraulic Brake Booster Leaking!!!

My hydraulic brake booster has been leaking for some time, but now it is leaking pretty bad. I ran 500 mile loop on Saturday and had to refill my power steering pump twice! It appears to be leaking from a seal/gasket at the back of the booster. The truck has 200k on it...may be time to replace booster. Has anyone had trouble of this sort before? Do I need to replace the booster, try a replacing the gasket/seal or, can I use a "stop leak" product? Please advise.

Most auto parts can provide a reman booster for around $50 with exchange.

I suppose the best option is to replace the booster. Shouldn't try the "stop leak" products, right?

Mine leaks also, have not replaced it yet. Put a diaper on it. I actually have not been able to find a rebuild from autozone or pep boys. Lots of vacuum boosters but no hydro boosters.

I put in Lucas power steering stop leak and it has decreased. Leak started and got real bad after replacing fluid with synthetic.

I checked with Napa this morning and a reman is $206!!! To make me feel better, I checked with the local Dodge dealer...$600!!!!!!! The leak is coming from a joint in the unit. It isn't broken. It is simply leaking at the point where the two peices are joined. I looked at a new unit at the dodge place and there isn't gasket in the new one. If I took mine apart and don't find an obvious cause of the leak, I wonder if I could make a gasket for it and see if that stopped the leaking? If that doesn't work I may try brazing the joint where it is leaking. If that doen't work...it looks like I might have to separate myself from a couple Ben Franklins!

Rebuild without master cylinder should not be more than 75$. Keep looking, try a truck brake repair business.

I found one yesterday in a wreck with low mileage for $150. Should be good as new. I hope it didn't wreck because the brakes failed!
