I looked in the Dodge service manual for '97s and it doesn't specifically say how to remove the connector.

Sorry,

There are two common connectors used in 97, the most common has two compression latches (one on each side, and you compress them and pull the plug toward the side of the vehicle), the other has a single latch on the top, again you release the plastic dog and pull the connector to the driver's side of the vehicle.

I've pulled and pulled...................

Hey Yah'll,

I've lifted the tab, actually broke it now, slide the red retainer(keeper) to the side, now the red retainer is sittin on My bench, but the connector is still together. I'm about to cut the wire harness, I'm a little loose but not stupid, I have no idea how this thing comes apart. Any help would be appreciated.

THANX

Well its done.............

I ended up gittin that plug apart and completed My new sender and fuel lines. That connection is the worst thing I've ever seen in terms of maintenance but rest assured it would never come apart on its own. Thanx to all for Your input.

As you work on your truck you will find quite a few componets that are "quick connected". It means just that, they are quick to connect but a bear to disconnect.
