hood won't open

pulled the lever, cable moved but hood did not open. I disconnected the cable from the lever assembly and tried pulling it and the cable would not move.(cable not broken) I tried banging on the hood. I have to go away for the weekend but need to boost my moms car first and figure out why my grid heater is not working so I don't get stranded. thanks

If it's below freezing try leaving it idle for a while out of the wind, and try the latch again. The engine heat will thaw it out if it's frozen. Worked for me once before.

It is not frozen drove it for twenty hours plowing with the cable stuck outand it did not come up. Also had it in heated shop for five hours. I think that I am going to brake a web in the grill and undo the 6mm bolts holding the bottom latch

Before you break your grill try to get up from under the bumper to the hood mechanism. You might need a long strait pry bar to pry the latch mechanism back a little bit. I had to do this to my wifes aunt's truck and we found that the cable was frozen at the latch itself. Just so you know it's tight but you can get in there.

Good. How did you get to it just out of curiosity, were you able to get it from underneath or not.

put all the extensions I had together and undid the two 6mm bolts that hold the latch to the hood from the bottom between the tranny cooler and the bumper. I had just taken the plastic off the bottom of the bumper to install a plow which probly helped. Way better than hacking the grill apart. I can be such a butcher when I am in a hurry
