Help with turbo

I have seen a few threads on here about removing something like the turbo silencer or something like that. I'm pretty new to diesel's but I would like to know what exactly would removing the silencer do and if it does how do you go about removing it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Just trying to make the truck faster and louder with as little money as possible.

only thing a silencer ring will do is give the truck a whistle, all it is is a snap ring that holds it in.its kind of tricky but if you take a screw driver and spin the snap ring around you can get under it and pop it out

Where would I find the exact location of the ring on the turbo at? All it does is just a louder whistle, no performance gain?

The silencer ring is just inside the intake horn of the turbo. It looks like a large snap ring. All removing it does is give more turbo sound, no performance gain at all.

Just take off the intake boot to the turbo, and on the inner edge you will see a snap ring. Pull out the snap ring and the silencer will come right out.
