Help!! Truck wont start after changing Fuel Filter
Well I changed the fuel filter, oil filter and oil today since my dad is pulling out to night to deliver the truck to PA.
Once I got everything buttoned up,I jumped in the truck to start it and it started up, so I jumped out to check for leaks and it started sputtering and then it shut off. I got back in and shut the key off and then back on and waited for all the lights to go out and then try starting it again all it did was crank over. Does the system need to be reprimed after changing the fuel filter or what?
I checked the codes and all it thru at me was P1693, Does anyone now what this means?
This truck has to be ready to go by 6:30pm tonight or we are keeping it..

no expert here by no means but sounds like a weak lift pump. what u could do wha ti have seen done is take a tennis ball and put a hole in either side of it so u can use a air hose to pressure up ur fuel tank. buddy did that and it worked.
Well their is no fuel pressure guage, I will go ut now and see if I hear the pump running. Last tuime I tired starting it I was on the phone with my dad and the truck was beeping... So I will go out now and try...

In the future you need to do this and it should start right up if the LP is good.
I always refill the filter canister then install it, then get in turn the key to start and bump the starter wait till you don't hear the LP running and do it again.
Do this about 3 times before trying to start then on the 4th time try to start it.
Works for me everytime.
Good luck

It worked just fine cracking three of the injector lines, It works great now. Did a few high throttle/high speed passes to make sure It was working good. He just left a little over an hour ago, So he should be good now.,The truck at about 9:00 am tomorrow will be officially not ours no more, thats if the guy keeps his decision on buying it..
Thanks all

Hi,
Pertaining to the truck listed below, I'm adding to this thread since I need to get mine going soon. Changed my filter but didn't have enough fuel to completely fill canister, so tried to start anyway
. Started, then died. Tried to bleed at the banjo bolt, got no fuel after many many bumps. So, we got more fuel, topped off the canister, tried again, still no fuel coming out at banjo bolt after MANY more bumps. Do I go ahead and tighten the banjo bolt and move on the the injector lines? Or do I have to have fuel at the banjo bolt to proceed? I don't want to start cracking those injector lines if I need fuel at the BB; why won't fuel turn up at the BB?

Can you hear the LP running when you bump the starter?
If you bump the starter the LP should run for about 20 seconds or more, if it doesn't you need a new LP.
If it does then you will probably need to crack 1,3 & 5 line @ the head and bum the starter until all of the air is out.
Don't buy another OEM pump(junk). Look for an after market one, like the one in my sig or another one, FASS seems popular on here but pricey.
good luck
