Does it turn over and not catch? If it doesn't turn over it maybe be the starter contact.

Im sure someone will chime in for more info but it sounds like the fuel shut off solenoid is hanging up and staying closed.

Sounds like the fuel shut down solinoid is not pulling the fuel on. The next time it does not start, leave the key on and pull up on the shut down linkage, if it moves up, it should start. The starter contacts are probably the culprit.

It's on the drivers side, the bracket that holds the solinoid attaches to the afc housing and right under it is the rod.
