help quick!!

Im am putting sirius radio in my 03, and have a power supply problem. I can plug it into the cigarette lighter and the unit will come on, I then spliced the wires and put it back together that way I didnt tie up my cigarette lighter and for a cleaner install. The unit will not come on this way, what can I do!

Unhappy

sounds like you wired it backwards at one time, hope there is a in line fuse if not you blew a resistor that is not easily fixable.

Possibly fried the radio...

IIRC the reason I bought a cigarette lighter plug to install under the hood is that the radio does not use 12V, but rather 6 or 3. ... I have yet to install it under the hood, and have to plug/unplug each time I use the truck, heh.

Well guys I solved my problem, I went to Oreillys and purchased an additonal cigarette lighter and then plugged the sirius power cable into it and placed it behind the ac controls. I now am able to use both my power outlets and my sirius set up is wire free except for the three wires protruding out the back of the head unit. Thanks guys for your help.

YEP, they won't work unless you use the supplied cigarette light plug that came with the unit. I did the same thing with mine and got the same result. Must be sumthin in the plug itself that has to be incorparated into the power supply (12v)
