Help, In The Middle Of Front End Replacement

I got the pitman arm off from the gear box but how do you remove the other end?


this is the peice im trying to separate. (I have already removed the nut at the bottom)

remove the nut then hit the steering arm right next to the tie rod with a hammer, just give it a few hard wacks and it should separate. If not you can use a tie rod separator.

crap I dont have a tie rod separator.

ill go give it a few hard wacks again. Ive been beating the crap out of it for a while.

thanks for helping. Anyone else have any ideas? Crowbar doesnt work, I cant get any leverage

those should be tapered pins that lock tight as hell. I tried separating some with hammers, then had to go out & buy a picklefork...(tierod separator)
after an hr of messin around with hammers, it took only 1 good hit with the picklefork.

(you may also be able to use a couple cold chisles....but don't ask me how to hold em & hit em at the same time.

I guess somewhere it got lost in translation.........works a LOT better if you take the joint end off before you take it off of the gear box. Moves a whole lot and you lose a lot of the force of the blow when the pieces move. Try slipping it back on the gear box and use your pickle fork. Good luck.

how do i get the new pitman arm on the gear box. is there a special trick for that?

I got it off. There no way you would get that off without a pickle fork.
